Gladys Straub-Meier 1925 - 2022

Gladys Straub-Meier, 96, passed away peacefully February 11, 2022, at Azria Health Great Bend.  She was born June 25, 1925, in Otis, to Jacob and Kate (Kellen) Moore.  Gladys married Vernon Straub in July 1947, St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ellinwood.  Vernon passed away in February 1974.  She then married Leslie Meier in May 1976, in Great Bend.  He died in January 2004.

Gladys, a long-time resident of Great Bend coming from Otis and Ellinwood, was a housekeeping manager at St. Rose Hospital and Central Kansas Medical Center.  She was an avid fan of WWF and enjoyed playing slot machines and keeping up with current events on CNN and FOX News.  She was also known as the family genealogist, collecting many generational family photos.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Olson and husband David of Great Bend, and Janice Lisenby of Texarka, Ark.; four grandchildren, Mike Johnson and wife Jeni of Wichita, Brian Lisenby and wife Tracy of Texarkana, Ark., Melinda McPherson and husband James of Foreman, Ark, and Jeff Olson and wife Haley of Topeka; and five great grandchildren, Tiffany McPherson, Natalie McPherson, Kimberly McPherson, Landon Olson and Logan Olson.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer Moore, Roy Moore and Vernon Moore; one sister, Marie Brack; and one son-in-law, Hal Lisenby.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will be held in April at the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials have been designated to Gladys Meier Memorial Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
