Gerrie Marie Scheufler

Gerrie Marie Scheufler, 92, passed away surrounded by her loving family at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Great Bend on Nov. 5th, 2024.

Born on March 29, 1932 in Renton, Wash. she was the daughter of Erny and Elsie (Nelson) Crussell. Gerrie graduated from Renton HS in 1950. She married Kenneth Eugene Scheufler in Yuma, Ariz. on June 7, 1952. He passed away July 22, 2008. Gerrie and Kenneth met while he was serving in the US Navy in California. After their marriage and Kenneth’s time in the service, they moved to rural Ellinwood, Kan. where he worked as a Farmer/Stockman on the family farm. They lived there for 58 years. They enjoyed many years together farming, raising cattle, building a feedlot and traveling on family and friend vacations which usually included water. She loved the lake and especially beach trips.

After Kenneth’s death, Gerrie moved to Great Bend in 2010. Gerrie was active in the First Baptist Church of Ellinwood where she served in various positions and on many committees throughout the years even serving as her church’s wedding coordinator.
