Geraldine Marshall 1920 - 2016

Geraldine Marshall, 95, died July 4, 2016, at Brookdale Senior Living in Great Bend. Born Oct. 28, 1920, at Ulman, Mo., she was the daughter of Barney and Anna Dawson. In 1944, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Missouri and later earned her Master’s Degree from Webster College. On Aug. 24, 1947, she married James Marshall at St. Louis, Mo. He died March 26, 1967. She was a primary teacher for 26 years, with 17 of those as first grade teacher at Prairie School in Prairie Village. After raising her family and retiring from teaching, she volunteered at Shawnee Mission Hospital. In 1999, she moved to Great Bend and volunteered teaching reading and was a member of PEO Chapter FS.
Mrs. Marshall was a member of Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, where she served as a deacon, elder and in various other offices for 50 years. She attended First Christian Church while living in Great Bend.
Survivors include her son, James Robert Marshall and his wife Lanette of Tipton; her daughter, Jo Ann Hildebrand and her husband Ross of Great Bend; one sister, Josephine Graham and her husband Jim of Greenwood, S.C.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Tavish (Marshall) Hall and her husband Mitch and their children Willa, Marshall and Anna of Harper, Katrina Marshall of Manhattan, April (Marshall) Schmitt and her husband Clinton of Tipton, Alexis Marshall and fiancé Austin Thomas of Downs, Cassandra (Hildebrand) Barton and her husband Nick and their children Macyn and Tucker of Gardner, Elias Hildebrand of Chicago, Ill., and Collin Hildebrand and his wife Andrea and their children Georgia and Everett of Topeka. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dr. Jack Dawson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Joshua Leu officiating. Public graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to St. Rose Health Center Endowment Fund for Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice or American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home. Terra Gale Brodie

Terra Gale Brodie, 61, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025 at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kan., surrounded by her family and friends. Terra was born June 30, 1963, in Wichita, Kan., the daughter of Delmar and Johanna Brodie.

Terra grew up in Great Bend, Kan. and graduated from Great Bend High School. In 1983, Terra married Donald Raybern, they later divorced. She worked for Jacam in Sterling, Kan. for many years and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. 

Terra is proceeded in death by her parents; and one brother-in-law, Jimmy. 

She is survived by one daughter, Jana Armbruster and significant other Tyler; two sons, Jeffrey (Tiffany Riley) and Jeremy (Bobbie) Raybern; 16 grandchildren, Kyler, Kinzie, Kale, Blakelee, Brayton, Maddison, Abigail, Gage, Nicolette, Decklyn, Taylor, McKynlea, Macilynn, Maggie, Marci, Easton; and one great grandchild, Kane; one brother, Troy (Michelle) Brodie; and two nephews, Blake and Aaron.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements and care entrusted to Hutchinson Funeral Chapel & Crematory.
