Frank Steven Ochs, 69, passed away Aug. 16, 2024, surrounded by family at Ellinwood District Hospital, Ellinwood, Kan. He was born on March 28, 1955, in Hoisington, Kan., to Willis and Virginia (Leek) Ochs. On Oct. 21, 1978, he married Judy Klema in Great Bend.
A lifetime Great Bend resident, Frank spent most of his working years farming, and worked as a yard foreman at L&M Contractors prior to his retirement. He was of the Methodist faith. Frank was passionate about supporting his community by his involvement with the Barton County Fair Board (being a founding member), Farm Bureau Board, Mid-Kansas Quality Water Board, Hillcrest/Golden Belt Cemetery Board, 4-H Leader, 4-H Shooting Sports instructor for over 20 years, FFA Alumni Board, Elks Club, and Sons of the
American Legion. He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, yard work and gardening, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of the home; three sons, Brandon Ochs and wife Melissa, Brett Ochs and wife Cindy, and Blake Ochs and wife Shelby, all of Great Bend; 11 grandchildren, Callie Ochs, Christina Powell, Analeah, Jordan, and Amber Ochs, Josh and Steven Crawford, Brecken, Harper, Weston, and Kade Ochs; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Shari Lynn Radke and Sue Ann McAnulla.
Visitation will take place from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Troy Miller presiding. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to the Barton County Fair Association or Kans for Kids, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
