Evelyn M. (Ladison) Cota

Evelyn M. (Ladison) Cota, age 91 years of Great Bend, Kan. and formerly of New York, passed away on Friday afternoon, Nov. 1, 2024 at Country Living of Lyons Assisted Living, where she had resided since February 2024 and was under the care of Gentiva Hospice since September 2023 due to her declining health.

Evelyn was born on Oct. 9, 1933 at Canton, New York to Charles and Mable (Martin) Ladison. She was employed by the Potsdam Central School District in New York for many years. She moved to Kansas in 2016 to live with her daughter and son-in-law.  Evelyn loved her large family, reading, sewing, gardening, and puzzles. She was active in her church and had a strong faith in God.

Survivors include three sons, Chester (and Linda) Ladison of Norwood, New York, Roland (and Paulette) Ladison of San Tan Valley, Ariz., and Stuart (and Linda) Ladison of Canton, New York; two daughters, Christine (and Brian) Hoyler of Painted Post, New York and Sheryl (and Ralph) Kent of Great Bend; and daughter-in-law Patsy Cota of Norwood, New York; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles Lee Cota; one son Roderick Carl Cota, a great-grandson Benjamin Paul, and five siblings (Charles Ladison, Isabelle Cota, Loretta Hubbard, George Ladison, and Marion Thomas).

According to the Evelyn’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and no services are planned at this time. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
