Daniel “Danny” LeRoy

Daniel “Danny” LeRoy, 61, passed away June 11, 2023, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson. He was born on July 12, 1961, at Great Bend, to Robert and LouAnn (Farmer) LeRoy. He married Mary Keil on Feb. 14, 2007, in Great Bend. 

A lifetime Barton county resident, Danny was a farmer. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, Mid Kansas Water Quality Association, Buffalo Township Board Member, and was a former chairman for Great Bend Coop Association and Kansas Farm Management. Danny loved to play cards, travel, go four-wheeling and socialize with his family and friends. 

Survivors include, his wife Mary Keil-LeRoy of the home; a step son, Mark Straub and wife Misty of Great Bend; a step daughter, Sheila Watkins of Hutchinson; his parents, Robert and LouAnn LeRoy of Great Bend;  a brother, David LeRoy and wife Leslie of Great Bend; two sisters, Kathy Riggs and husband Keith of Great Bend, and Susan LeRoy (Dave Spellman) of Tulsa, Okla.; and five grandchildren, Makenna Straub, Makeila Straub, Lachlan Watkins, Brock Watkins and Taylor Swensen; three nieces and one nephew. 

Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 15, 2023, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, with Pastor Mike Munz presiding. Interment will be in Everett Cemetery, Great Bend. Memorials have been designated to First Congregational United Church of Christ, Great Bend Community Theater or Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. SOLOMON — Don R. Hockett, 79, passed away March, 20, 2025 at his residence in Solomon, Kan. He was born on Jan. 6, 1946, in Garden City, Kan. to Art and Velma (DeGarmo)Hockett. 

Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother “Bud” Elwin Hockett; and brother Doug Hockett. He is survived by son Lance of Abilene, Kan.; and daughter and son-in-law Amy and Jon Sweat of Raleigh, N.C.; as well as sister Evelyn Brownlee of Liberal, Kan.; and brother Dean and Sherri Hockett of Satanta, Kan..

Don was a graduate of Fort Hays where he played tennis.

He was a high school teacher in Claflin, Kan. as well as a tennis coach at Claflin High School. He was also a member of the Volunteer Fire Dept. He was an employee of the City of Claflin for the majority of his career.

He was always busy creating things for friends or family members in his shop, gardening, or in his earlier days hunting and fishing. 

The family will hold a private service.
