Carol Ann Barrett, age 94 years, of Hoisington, Kan. and formerly of Ellinwood, Kan., passed away at Credo Senior Living in Hoisington on Friday evening, Dec. 27, 2024. Carol Ann was born on Jan. 14, 1930 at Caney, Kan. the only child of J.O. “Jess” and Frances (Adams) Doss. She was united in marriage to Charles Barrett on Dec. 7, 1948 at Copan, Okla. and they lived in Caney, Kan. until 1952, when they moved to Wellington, Kan., and then in 1971 moved to Ellinwood, Kan. Carol Ann was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed fishing and camping in her younger years, crocheting, and loved her Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Wichita State University Wushocks.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin D. (and Cindy) Barrett of Shawnee, Kan. and Douglas E. (and Leslie) Barrett of Great Bend, Kansas; six grandchildren, Jessica (and Daniel) Lopez, Corey (and Denise) Barrett, Tyler Barrett (and fiancé Kelsey), Brandon (and Elaina) Jewell, Darah Jewell and Keith Czarnecki; 12 great-grandchildren. Carol Ann was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Charles Barrett on Aug. 7, 2002.

Cremation has been chosen and no services are planned at this time. Inurnment will take place at Caney, Kan. at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Golden Belt Humane Society in Carol Ann’s Memory.
