C. Ray Scheideman 1937 - 2014

C. Ray Scheideman, 77, died Nov. 5 at his home in Great Bend. Born Sept. 29, 1937, in La Crosse, he was the son of Elmer Milton and Amelia (Brening) Scheideman. On Feb. 24, 1962, he married Jacqueline L. Strong in Smith Center. A Great Bend resident since 1964, coming from Hays, he was employed as an installer and repairman for Southwestern Bell for 25 years, then for AT&T, retiring in 1990. Following his retirement, he worked in the telecommunications industry and then for CPI.
Mr. Scheideman was a United States Air Force veteran. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Argonne Post 180, and Telephone Pioneers. He was a frequent blood donor for the American Red Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Jacque L. Scheideman, of the home; two sons, Brad Scheideman and his wife Rita of Great Bend, and Brian Scheideman and his wife Jan of Wamego; two sisters, Mary Ann Pechanec and her husband Frank of La Crosse, and Kathy Schlegel of Pilot Point, Texas; one brother, Robert Scheideman and his wife Mary of Ellinwood; eight grandchildren, David Scheideman, Chris Scheideman, Shannon Peterson, Christopher Scheideman, Amanda Scheideman, Eric Mason, Jade Mason, and Stephanie Mason; and six great-grandchildren, Emily Scheideman, Aaron Scheideman, Kendra Scheideman, Kaylee Scheideman, Hailey Peterson, and Gage Peterson. He was preceded in death by daughter, Brenda Mason.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Schumacher officiating. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Home Health and Hospice or American Red Cross or American Lung Association, in care of the funeral home.
