Betty Lou Ashley, 79, passed away May 10, 2022 at Azria Health Woodhaven in Great Bend.
She was born Sept. 3, 1942 in Yuma, Ariz., the daughter of Lester Ervin and Rose Lee Pebsworth Patton.
Moving from Texas and later Great Bend, she was a Larned resident since 1964. She was co-owner of Dairy Queen in Larned with her husband Ernie and a charter member of the First Southern Baptist Church where she was involved in many activities from Sunday school to vacation bible school. She was an avid doll collector and member of various doll clubs. She enjoyed making ceramics, sewing, painting, crafting, and spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids.
On Nov. 10, 1959 she married Ernest A. Ashley at Perryton, Texas; he survives.
Other survivors include son, Duane Ashley, Larned; two daughters, Suzan (Jim) Haynes, and Sandi Bartz, both of Larned; seven grandchildren, Michael (Jessie) Ashley, Bermerton, Wash., Jordan (Sarah) Haynes, Bixby, Okla., Tyler Ashley, Kansas City, Mo., Kaitlyn (Casey) Hatfield, Larned, Jeromy Bartz, Lincoln, Neb., Brandon Bartz, Hays, Trevor Bartz, Larned; seven great grandchildren, Kaira Haynes, Josiah Haynes, Judah Haynes, Ariella Haynes, Colby Hatfield, Collins Hatfield, and Holden Ashley. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ernest Lester Ashley; son-in-law, Michael Bartz; brother, Jerry Patton; sister, Sue Sharp; and a granddaughter, Laura Ashley.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022 at First Southern Baptist Church, Larned with Pastor Cecil Dale presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery. Memorials may be given to First Southern Baptist Church or Welcome Inn Senior Center in care of Beckwith Mortuary, PO Box 477, Larned, Kansas 67550.
