HOISINGTON — Barbara “Joyce” Barnard, 83, died Aug. 15, 2023, at Smokey Hill Health and Rehabilitation, Salina, Kan. She was born Aug. 22, 1939, at the family home in Wayne County, Ill., the daughter of William “Harold” and Willena Maurine (Molt) Hosselston. Joyce graduated from Fairfield High School, Fairfield, Ill. in 1957.

On Oct. 13, 1956, she married David Paul “Pete” Barnard in Johnsonville, Ill. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2014.

Pete and Joyce moved to Hoisington in the early 70’s and she went to work for the Hoisington Lutheran Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide. Joyce was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Hoisington. She enjoyed fishing trips with the family and will always be remembered by her family as a great cook, especially her homemade bread and pies.  

Survivors include her four children Kim Landers and husband Eric of Hoisington, Bryan Barnard and wife Diana of Pratt, Brad Barnard and wife Laura of Hoisington, and Kara Gale and husband Cory of Winfield; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren and two more on the way.. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three-year-old son, Ricky Barnard; sister, Virginia Cable; and brother, Gene Hosselton. 

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday with family to receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside service will be 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 21, 2023, at Hoisington City Cemetery, with Ron Bailey presiding.
