STERLING — Allen Dale Wheeler, 57, died May 16 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Born Sept. 14, 1957, at Hutchinson, he was the son of Jack “J.D.” and Maxine Branham Wheeler.
He as a former cook at the American Legion in Great Bend and Sterling College, Sterling. A veteran of the U. S. Army and National Guard, having served from 1975 to 1980, Allen attended Sterling High School and received his Welding Tech Degree at Hutchinson Junior College. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion of Great Bend.
Survivors include his mother, Maxine Wheeler, Sterling; three daughter: Jacquie Hensley and Jodi Wheeler, both of Sterling, and Jamie and Nathan Osborn, Bremerton, Wash.; a son, Jesse Wheeler, Bremerton, Wash.; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his dad, Jack “J.D.” Wheeler, and his son, William Chad Hodges.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 30, at Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. Memorials are suggested to the Allen D. Wheeler Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers. Donations may be made in care of Birzer Funeral Home, 203 N 7th St,,Sterling, Kansas 67579.
