A Great Bend driver and passenger were arrested and taken into custody as the result of a traffic stop by Barton County Sheriff’s Office late Monday evening.
According to the BCSO, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Hubbard Street in Great bend at about 10:15 p.m. on June 19.
During the course of the traffic stop, deputies became suspicious of potential drug activity. Great Bend Police Department’s K-9 Menta was called to the scene and alerted to the presence of controlled substances.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found inside, Sheriff Brian Bellendir reported.
Both the driver, Sheldon Amador, 61, of Great Bend and Tara Amador, 50, Great Bend, were arrested at the scene and transported to the Barton County Jail.
During the course of the jail intake, both persons were searched, resulting in more controlled substances being found to include methamphetamine and marijuana.
Both suspects were booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, introduction of contraband into a correctional facility and interference with a law enforcement officer.
Both are being held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
