Three arrested as GBPD investigates drug trafficking

The Great Bend Police Department, with assistance from the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant shortly before 10:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, at 51 SE 20 Rd., just south of the City of Great Bend, and arrested three individuals on drug charges. In a news release issued Monday afternoon, GBPD Chief Steven Haulmark said the search warrant stemmed from an ongoing investigation involving drug tafficking in Barton County.

Upon arrival, officers apprehended David Shane Meitler, 59; Tara Amador, 52, and Sheldon Amador, 52. During a search of the residence, detectives reportedly located suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, as well as firearms and evidence of drug distribution.

Meitler was arrested and transported to the Barton County Jail, where he was booked on three counts of distribution of methamphetamine, one count of possession of marijuana, one count of criminal possession of a weapon, one count of possession of drug Paraphernalia and one count of not having a drug tax stamp. He was booked in lieu of two $100,000 cash or surety bonds and one $20,000 cash or surety bond.

Tara Amador was booked on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, with bond set at $10,000.

Sheldon Amador was arrested on a no-bond Barton County District Court warrant for probation violation.
