Suspected meth found in pickup
GBPD-patch-2016

Great Bend Police Chief Steve Haulmark reports an officer checking on suspicious activity around 1 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, resulted in an arrest.

A Great Bend Police Department officer was on routine patrol at that time when he observed a 1998 Chevy pickup parked in the alley behind Dillon’s at 1811 Main. He made contact with the only occupant of the vehicle, later identified as Diana Hejny, age 56.

“While investigating the suspicious activity, Great Bend Police Department K9 Niko was deployed for a free air sniff around the vehicle,” Haulmark stated in a news release. “K9 Niko indicated to an odor of illegal narcotics coming from the vehicle. The officer searched the vehicle and located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the cab of the pickup.”

Hejny was arrested and booked at Barton County Jail for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and released after posting a $10,000 bond.
