ST. JOHN — A St. John man died and two passengers were injured in a single-vehicle crash north of St. John Tuesday evening.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, at around 6:45 p.m., 49-year-old Brian Dalton of St. John, driving a 2009 Ram 3500 pickup, left the roadway for an unknown reason in the 800 block of NW 10th Avenue, about four miles north of St. John. When the vehicle re-entered the roadway, Dalton reportedly over-corrected to the left side, leaving the roadway and striking an embankment.

The vehicle rolled, partially ejecting Dalton and a passenger, 24-year-old Dylan Posthumus, also of St. John. Dalton was pronounced dead at the scene. Posthumus was transported to University of Kansas Health System-Great Bend Campus, then airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, with what were believed to be serious injuries. A third occupant, 25-year-old Waldo Vorsatz, also of St. John, was transported to Stafford County Hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.

KHP reports indicate none of the three occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
