A Bushton woman was injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle collision at NE 30 Road at Washington Ave., 2 miles north of Great Bend, after pulling in front of a southbound truck at the intersections.

Kandis Diane Nye, 61, was taken to The University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus with suspected serious injuries. The crash occurred at 5:09 p.m. on Aug. 28. Kansas Highway Patrol reports Nye was driving a 2008 Ford F250 Superduty and the other driver, Andreas Dewayne Vereecke, 26, Garfield, was driving a Chevrolet C4500 pulling a trailer.

Nye was westbound and stopped at the stop sign, then attempted to cross the road in front of the truck and trailer, which was southbound and did not have a stop sign. Her vehicle was broadsided and rolled one time, coming to rest on its wheels. Nye was not wearing a seat belt. The Vereecke vehicle stopped 0.1 miles south of the intersection.

Vereecke and his passenger, Thomas Ignacio Vargas, 22, Great Bend, and Victor Cruz, 51, residence unknown, were wearing seat belts and had no apparent injuries.
