Great Bend Police

Monday, July 18

Someone damaged a tire on a vehicle at 1714 Stone St.

A vehicle driven by Bobbi Grieb was eastbound in the 1700 block of Broadway at 10:58 a.m. and struck a vehicle driven by Reggan Reynolds, who had stopped suddenly to avoid a pedestrian.

A parked vehicle at 2602 Williams St. was hit by a hit-and-run vehicle.

 

Barton County Sheriff

A semi-trailer hauling hay bales rolled just west of Hoisington at the first curve (NW 110 Road and North U.S. 281), at 11:37 a.m. Monday. One lane was blocked for a time but the driver reported he was not injured.

A storage unit at 2318 Railroad Ave., Great Bend, was broken into and items stolen. One reported item, a desk, was recovered in the 700 block of NW 30 Ave. (on the Boyd Road) around 6 p.m.

Dustin McPhail was driving east on K-4, half a mile east of NW 40 Ave., when his Buick hit a cow, around 2:10 a.m. Tuesday.

 

Great Bend Fire Department

Firefighters made three ambulance runs on Monday.

At 10:27 a.m. they responded to 1426 20th St. to help identify the contents of a small white bucket. Chief Mike Napolitano said it contained what appeared to be thinner mixed with motor oil, and was not a hazard.

At 6 p.m. they responded to a mutual aid request from Ellinwood for a hay shed on fire at 368 NE 80 Ave.
