Great Bend Police Chief Steve Haulmark issued a news release on Tuesday concerning three recent cases resulting in arrests.
On Saturday, May 18, officers from the GBPD were notified of an ongoing sex offense occurring in the city. Detectives began conducting interviews and gathering evidence. They identified a suspect. On Sunday, May 26, at approximately 3:10 p.m., officers received a notification from an LPR (License Plate Reader Camera) that the suspect’s vehicle had just entered Great Bend. Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, and placed the suspect, Reyes Valenzuela-Aguilar, age 45, under arrest without incident. He was transported to the Barton County Jail, and booked on the requested charge of rape, in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
Last Wednesday, May 22, at approximately 6:26 p.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department were dispatched to Love’s County Store, 1211 10th St, in reference to a battery. They contacted a female who stated Brandon Goodwin, 31, had contacted her in violation of a valid court order and had also battered her. Officers located Goodwin a short distance away on 9th Street. During the process of arresting him for stalking charges, Haulmark reported, a baggie of white crystal substance as well as drug paraphernalia were located on his person. The substance was field tested and showed a positive result for methamphetamine.
On Tuesday, May 28, at 8:07 a.m., GBPD officers were dispatched to Presto-Circle K, located at 2337 Washington St., in reference to threats. Officers met with the victim, who reported a criminal threat that occurred at a residence in Great Bend. The reporting party advised that Daniel Gallagher, 30, had threatened to kill her with a handgun at the house where they both reside. Daniel Gallagher was located, and he was arrested and booked at the Barton County Jail in lieu of a $5,000.00 bond.
