Arrest made in Hoisington death investigation

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation announced Thursday morning they and the Hoisington Police Department made an arrest connected to the Oct. 27 shooting death of 22-year-old Chase Anderson of Hoisington. 

According to a KBI news release, at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Adam M. Sullivan, 32, of Hoisington, was arrested for involuntary manslaughter connected to the shooting. Sullivan was already in custody at the Barton County Jail when he was arrested for the new charge.

The Hoisington Police Department originally requested KBI assistance on Wednesday, Oct. 27, just after 4 a.m. Special agents and the Crime Scene Response Team responded. 

At around 3:10 a.m. that morning, the HPD received a 911 call reporting a shooting at 405 E. 2nd St. in Hoisington. According to reports, when officers arrived they found Anderson suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS arrived and attempted life-saving measures. A short time later Anderson was pronounced dead.

Preliminary information revealed that Anderson was shot in the chest with a handgun. His acquaintance, identified as Sullivan, was also in the residence at the time of the shooting. 

At approximately 10:40 a.m. that morning, Sullivan was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia and was booked into the Barton County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.
