ELLINWOOD — Continued discussion of a proposal to utilize the former Woodhaven Care Center as a program housing immigrants seeking naturalization in the community has led Ellinwood city officials to change the venue for its upcoming meeting Tuesday.

The March 14 meeting of the Ellinwood City Council, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., will be located at the Ellinwood Public Library at 210 N. Schiller St.

The monthly meetings are normally held at the Ellinwood City Office meeting room, according to city officials.

The venue was changed to accommodate anticipated large attendance to hear continued discussion on a proposal from Royal Flagg, Great Bend.

At the council’s February meeting, Flagg asked the council’s approval of a plan to purchase the former Woodhaven building, which was closed by Nebraska-based owners Azria Health due to the building’s deteriorating condition in use as a senior living center.

After hearing Flagg’s proposal, which included comments by potential building owner Alex Carbajal, the council tabled discussion for further study.
