Matt and Dena Hiss submitted the winning bid on the former Great Bend USD 428 Maintenance Building at 2019 12th St. Their bid was $211,111, well above the appraised value of $130,000. Assistant Superintendent John Popp said two bids were submitted.
The school board met on Monday and approved the bid.
The district has already sold the former District Education Center at 201 S. Patton Road. Popp said he expects the closing date on that sale will be Friday the 13th, on Dec. 13.
Still for sale is the former Central Kitchen at 2201 Broadway. After the district failed to receive bids on that property it was listed with a real estate agency. “We’ve had some people looking at it but no actual offer yet.”
