USD 428 Board of Education to meet

The Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, May 8, at the District Education Center, 201 South Patton Road.

The meeting will start with four recognitions/presentations:

• The board will recognize HOSA-Future Health Professionals and students who qualified for nationals.

• The board will recognize the GBHS forensics team and students who qualified for nationals.

• Lacy Wolters, ACT coordinator at GBHS, will discuss the Kansas All-Star High School program, ACT prep and data, college/senior signing day, and other academic activities involving GBHS students.

• Todd Dumler with McCown Gordon and Shaefer Architect Matt Hamm will discuss plans regarding the 1809 24th St. facility purchased in December.

Old business items on the agenda include approval of the secondary foreign language curriculum, the GBMS program of studies, 2023-2024 student and teacher handbooks, and the guaranteed energy performance contract.

New business includes the 2023-2024 board meeting schedule, the summer schedule at the District Education Center, paper purchase, the need to replace the GBHS ramp, ESSDACK membership renewal and the possibility of a partnership with ESSDACK Connect.

An executive session is planned to discuss negotiated staff topics.
