Resurfacing will start soon on U.S. 281 in Barton and Stafford counties.

This is a continuation of a Kansas Department of Transportation resurfacing project, and it involves a mill and overlay on U.S. 281 from the K-19 junction in Stafford County to Southeast 30th Road in Barton County. The length is about 11 miles.

The work is expected to begin around Oct. 7 and be completed around Oct. 31.

During the work, traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car, and motorists should be prepared to stop and expect delays of up to 15 minutes.

Venture Corp., of Great Bend, is the primary contractor for the project.
