Two injured in GB crash Wednesday

Two Great Bend residents were hospitalized Wednesday morning as a result of a two-vehicle crash north of Great Bend in Barton County, according to a report from the Barton County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 11:32 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of NW 30 Road and North Washington Ave. A 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Travis McClanahan, 39, Great Bend, was southbound on North Washington Ave. approaching NW 30 Road when a 2017 Buick Envision driven by Wilma Darlene Bergren, 88, Hoisington, pulled in front of the vehicle at the intersection. The McClanahan vehicle struck the Buick, coming to rest in the east ditch. The Bergren vehicle spun and stopped, facing north.

Bergren was transported by Great Bend EMS from the scene to Clara Barton Medical Center in Hoisington with unspecified injuries, then later transferred to a Wichita Hospital. McClanahan was transported by personal vehicle to the Kansas University Health System - Great Bend Campus with unspecified injuries.
