Kansas Sen. Alicia Straub has not filed for reelection to that position in 2024 but has instead filed to run for Barton County Clerk. The incumbent clerk, Bev Schmeidler, is seeking reelection.
Monday was the deadline for filing for the August Primary Election.
The official list of filings also shows that former Assistant County Attorney Colin Reynolds is the only name on the ballot for the County Attorney’s position now held by Levi Morris.
In other county races, incumbent Glennda French is seeking reelection to the Register of Deeds seat and is challenged by Susan Williams.
Incumbents running unopposed for reelection are Sheriff Brian Bellendir, County Treasurer James Jordan, County Commissioner Barb Esfeld in the 2nd District and County Commissioner Shawn Hutchinson in the 3rd District.
The Great Bend City Council has each incumbent in the four wards filing for reelection, with one contested race.
The incumbents are Lindsey Krom-Craven in Ward 1, Kevyn Soupiset in Ward 2, Davis Jimenez in Ward 3 and Tina Mingenback in Ward 4. Gary Parr also filed in Ward 1.
There is also a race for a position representing the Ellinwood Hospital District. The candidates are David Gonzales and Harry A. Whiting Jr.
Two candidates are seeking the Republican committeewoman position for Comanche Township. Pam Wornkey and Linda Borror both filed for the position. This was the only race for committeeman or committeewoman in either party. Other candidates are unopposed.

Senate and House races
In the race for Kansas Senate District 33, the candidates are Matthew Westenfeld, D-Lyons; Tory Marie Blew, R-Great Bend; and John Sturn, R-Ellinwood. Blew is currently the state representative for District 112.
The candidates for Kansas House District 112 are Mark Rondeau, D-Great Bend, and Sherri Brantley, R-Hoisington.
Candidates for Kansas House District 113 are Jo Ann Roth, D-Ellinwood, and incumbent Brett Fairchild, R-St. John.
