Seventh-Day Adventists to host speaker Saturday

The Great Bend Seventh-day Adventist Church is inviting the public to a special Worship Service and Fellowship Lunch this Saturday. The service will begin at 9:45 a.m. with Sabbath School Bible Study Hour and the Worship Service begins at 10:45 p.m. The guest speaker will be Dr. Hubert J. Morel, Jr, Vice President for Administration of the Mid-America Union Conference in Lincoln, Neb.    

As vice president for administration, Dr. Morel assists the Mid-America Union president in articulating the mission and vision of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mid-America and providing leadership to the unions’ six constituent conferences. He is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the union and its entities as it relates to policy development, implementation and interpretation and also assists the union and local conferences in the development of constitutions and bylaws.

Dr. Morel serves as vice chair of the Mid-America Union Executive committee. He serves on the Union Adventist University (formerly Union College) board of trustees. He also compiles membership statistics and reports and serves on various other committees throughout the North American Division, including the Adventist Health System board and Presidents’ council

He graduated from Oakwood University in Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in theology,and a master of divinity degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, Mich. He also holds a D. Min, in Biblical counseling from Trinity Theological Seminary in Newburg, Ind.

Through his years in service for the Adventist Church he has served in the Southeastern California Conference, Florida and Georgia and eventually was elected president of the Southeastern California Conference. He is now serving as vice president for administration for the Mid-America Union in Lincoln, Neb.
