Great Bend Public Schools were closed Tuesday because Great Bend was under a boil-water advisory. School will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec. 4, and will follow the standard daily schedule.

While a water boil advisory remains in effect for the City of Great Bend, staff have taken the necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.

Here is an overview of precautions:

• Drinking fountains will be shut off or covered for the time being, and bottled water will be available at all school sites.

• Students will be allowed to wash their hands and will be encouraged to follow up with hand sanitizer, which will be provided in restrooms and classrooms.

• Food service will operate as usual, following all Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) guidelines. An updated menu is now available on the WebMenus App and online.

School officials stated they appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding on this unexpected “no school” day.

“If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s school office. We look forward to welcoming students and staff back tomorrow!”
