Reception for traveling suffrage exhibit Thursday at BCHS museum

The Barton County Historical Society Museum and Village will host an exhibit opening reception Thursday, July 15, at 6 p.m. for the traveling exhibit, “Celebrating 100 Years of Women Voting” 

The exhibit, which discusses the history of the women’s suffrage movement in the United States and the role of the state of Kansas in this struggle. will be on display at the Barton County Historical Society throughout the month of July.

Janice Walker of the Great Bend chapter of the League of Women Voters will give a brief presentation at Thursday’s reception, and light refreshments will be provided.

The exhibit is brought to the area by the local chapter of the League of Women Voters, and was funded by the Dane G. Hansen Foundation, Kansas Health Foundation, and Humanities Kansas.
