The Parent-Teacher Organization at Jefferson Elementary School is raising money to give its playground a makeover and update its 50-year-old equipment.
Jefferson PTO Vice President Ashley Klein said the playground equipment at 2726 24th St. is used by the school’s K-6 students and is also open to the community after school hours. Because new equipment is not in the USD 428 budget this year, Jefferson PTO and STUCO are raising money and saving for the project. The PTO has committed $15,000 toward the $40,000 goal.
Local, tax-deductible donations are being sought. Donations of any size are appreciated; contributors of $1,500 or more will be named on a plaque near the new equipment.
“Cash or checks can be mailed or dropped off at the school office,” Klein said. “We would be very appreciative of any support, big and small.”
A letter from the PTO to parents includes a QR code for those wishing to pay by Venmo. The letter explains that the organizers are committed to upgrading as much of the playground as their budget allows. They plan to purchase the equipment in April and schedule installation for this summer.
Jefferson PTO thanks all the businesses who have already shown their support for our project. For questions send email to JeffersonPTO428@gmail.com.
