Fort Larned Lions finish Christmas project
LARNED — The crew at Comfort Systems Inc of Larned counted, sorted and boxed the food donations in preparation for delivery to the Fort Larned Lions Christmas project. Donations can still be dropped off at the Mid American Credit Union, 114 W. 5th in Larned and Comfort Systems Inc., 622 Topeka Street, Larned, No it is not all eggs. Cal-Maine foods donated 300 egg boxes for the delivery to 106 families in Pawnee County.

Larned VFW Auxiliary meetsLARNED — Rits Kurtz presided over the monthly meeting of the Larned VFW Auxiliary on the second Monday of October. Tammy Mase led the opening ceremonies and flag salute.Barbara Penka reports that she had bought 100 towel sets for gifts for the Fort Dodge Soldiers Home and other Veterans. Wal-Mart donated a gift card for soaps to go with these gifts.Brenda Perez reported that she is working with 1st-and 2nd-graders in hopes that they can wave small flags at the Veterans’ Day parade Nov. 11.October 11, 2016

Wet/Dry Routes Chapter plans Sunday meetingLARNED — The Santa Fe Trail Association Wet/Dry Routes Chapter will convene at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Santa Fe Trail Center, three miles west of Larned on U.S. 156. Becca Hiller, Santa Fe Trail Meseum director, will deliver a review of the center and the Fort Larned Historic Society followed by a tour of the new exhibits. Reservations are required for the 1 p.m. luncheon at $8 per person, followed by the business meeting and program at 1:45 pm, open to anyone free of charge.October 11, 2016
