NIETC resolution on county agenda

A resolution detailing the Barton County policy on National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors is on the agenda for the Tuesday, Oct. 29, meeting of the Barton County Commission. The meeting will start at 9 a.m. in Room 106 of the Courthouse. It will also be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting online at https://bit.ly/3BekfW3.

Other items on the agenda are the replacement of certain computers, a project update on rebuilding a storage shed damaged in the July 2023 hail storm, and a request from Marissa Woodmansee, director of Juvenile Services, to attend training in Philadelphia from Dec. 16-18. Central Kansas Community Corrections received a Bureau of Justice Assistance Second Chance (SCA) grant and a component of the grant includes training with the Office of Justice Programs and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Following the close of the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

9:45 a.m. - Program update by Karen Winkelman, Public Health director

10:30 a.m. - Supplemental Agreement for a KDOT Project, presented by Barry McManaman, county engineer

10:45 a.m. - Regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, county administrator

11 a.m. - Benefits Open Enrollment session discussion with Brenda Kaiser, Human Resources director

Noon - Luncheon meeting with the Treasurer’s Office staff to discuss regular business

1:30 p.m. - The county has opted to donate a 1969 Chevy C60 Fire Truck to the Barton County Historical Society. It will deliver the vehicle to the Barton County Historical Village and Museum, 85 South U.S. 281, for a formal presentation.
