Local artist creates Leave a Legacy mural
Ryan mural 2024
Local artist Melanie Ryan has nearly completed a mural on the south (Lakin Ave.) side of the Golden Belt Community Foundation building at 1307 Williams St.

Silhouettes of a young boy and girl run through a colorful landscape toward the message “Live a Legacy” on a new mural going on the Golden Belt Community Foundation building at 1307 Williams St. The mural has not yet been signed by the artist and is awaiting a final touch-up.

GBCF Executive Director Jason Murray said the mural is intended to show the Foundation’s support of other downtown mural projects and enhance the curb appeal of the building.

“A mural has been discussed for a few years; just the timing and finalized concept had not been decided,” he said. “We want to express that together anyone can achieve their dreams and leave a lasting legacy on the community. No matter what age or gender, together we can make a positive influence. Live your passion and leave your legacy.”

With $30 million in assets and more than 180 funds, the Golden Belt Community Foundation helps support non-profit organizations and make it easy for charitable giving for donors.
