The Barton County Landfill will be closed on Wednesday, March 19, due to forecasted high winds. Barton County Resolution 2009-06 allows the landfill to close if winds are forecasted to be greater than 40 mph, or a high wind warning is issued by the national weather service. While this is an inconvenience, it is necessary to prevent litter blowing from the landfill.

In the event that winds are not as high as forecasted, the landfill will reopen. Call the landfill office at 620-793-1898 with any questions.
