The 125th Labor Day weekend celebration continues in Hoisington.
U.S. 281, which is also Main Street, is detoured for a few blocks to make room for the carnival and other activities, including Monday’s Labor Day Parade. On Saturday morning, the KIDSTOP events were canceled but other events continued. Shown here: the Downtown Street Market was open as well as brick and mortar businesses.
Here is the schedule for Saturday evening, Sunday and Monday:
SATURDAY
- Until dark - DWTA helicopter rides, Hoisington High School football field
- 6 p.m. - Thunder in the Wetlands Cruise Night - Beginning at Ehler Chevrolet, 271 S. Main St.
- 6-10 p.m. - Weee Entertainment Carnival and Midway, downtown
- 8 p.m.-midnight - Concert featuring Eli Mosley and Jaydence Schroeder, downtown
- After Dark - Thunder in the Wetlands fireworks display, downtown.
SUNDAY
- 8 a.m. - Worship service - On Main Street between 1st and 2nd streets
- 11 a.m.-dark - DWTA helicopter rides, Hoisington High School football field
- 1-4 p.m. - Meet Patricia Watts and Ice Cream Social at Hoisington Historical Society
- 1 p.m. - 38th Annual Kansas State Demolition Derby and Kids Power Wheels Derby at Bicentennial Park
- 6-10 p.m. - Weee Entertainment Carnival and Midway, downtown
- 8 p.m.-midnight - Labor Day Street Dance featuring Homebrew, downtown
MONDAY
- 10:10 a.m. - Kids Parade, Main Street, downtown (lineup begins 9:45 a.m. at HHS auditorium)
- 10:30 a.m. - 125th Annual Labor Day Parade, Main Street, downtown (Float judging at 8:15 a.m. prior to the parade)
- Noon-10 p.m. - Wee Entertainment Carnival and Midway, downtown
- 1 p.m. - United in Christ Labor Day Celebration - Free event, First Church of God, 601 E. 1st St. - Food, games, carnival wristband giveaway
- After parade until dark - DWTA helicopter rides, Hoisington High School football field
- After parade - Barnard Tire & Auto Car Show, downtown
