The Hoisington High School Class of 2022 gathered at the Hoisington Activity Center on May 8 for graduation ceremonies.

The event started with the processional and a welcome from Senior Khloe Schneweis. With thanks given to family and friends for their support over the years, she said, “every one of us has great potential and a bright future ahead of us. It is just our turn to take the step to make that dream a reality.”

Principal Joel Mason introduced the Outstanding Senior Girl and Boy. The tradition of this award dates back to 1939. Livvy Brewer was selected as Outstanding Girl and Noah Dolezal as Senior Boy. Both students, taking turns, gave thanks to their parents.

Dolezal spoke of “a special thank you to Murphy (Woodmansee), my good friend.” He continued, “He was truly the best person I ever met and he left such an amazing mark on my life.”

After the Senior slide show, musical numbers included a song performed by the HHS Choir. A special song about graduation was written and performed by Liya Tomaszewicz.

Brewer, Salutatorian, and Chase Maier, Valedictorian, also expressed thanks for the support from family and friends throughout the years. Mason then presented the class for graduation with the acknowledgement that “once a Cardinal, always a Cardinal.”

Emilee Baze gave the class farewell. In her conclusion, she said, “as today is Mother’s Day, I would like to thank all of the mothers out there but I would also like to give a special thank you to my mother. Mom, you’re my first country, the first place I ever lived. To the world you were just a mother but, to me, you are the world.”

For the Class of 2022 she left this advice, “Your time as a caterpillar has expired. Your wings are ready. Don’t just fly but soar.”
