STAFFORD — What a beautiful Halloween Evening! Trunk or Treat sponsored by Stafford County Hospital was ALIVE with big and little Trick or Treaters!

I kept a tally while Sandy and Tim Dye handed out treats. Mother Nature gave us the best weather ever! I think that contributed to the biggest turnout we have ever had: 213 children, 141 adults and I should have kept a tally for family pets. There was also Trunk or Treating on Main Street and I felt that our kids were blessed with a fun and safe evening, because we are a community that cares for our kids!  t was a great evening and Tim’s 65th birthday.

Next month will be a busy one.

• The Library is sponsoring our annual Month of Giving. Please bring to the library, articles for hygiene (soap, body wash, shampoo, deodorant, etc), boys & girls underwear and socks – elementary size, for our students at Stafford Schools. Let’s set them up for SUCCESS!

• We have our month-long exhibit of Dale Latta Ceramics for all to enjoy.

• Monday morning we are looking forward to Preschool Story Hour 10-11 a.m. We will be reading and singing Old McDonald had a farm and using flannel graph animals. We also will exercise to a Baby Shark video and then play with friends.

• Monday afternoon, I go to Macksville to receive a $5,000 grant check from South Central Community Foundation.

• The First United Methodist Church has revived a favorite event. Remember the day-long Bazaar put on by the UMW? There was delicious food, wonderful people waiting on you, slightly used clothing and household items for sale. It was a cultural event for the community! A church member had a heart tug to revisit this fun time and benefit those devastated by hurricanes in our Southeast. Come have lunch with us at the church before or after you vote, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The freewill offering will go to hurricane victims.

• Nov. 7, the Senior Center and the Library are partners in engaging a representative from SouthWest Kansas Area Agency on Aging at the library, for Medicare Open enrollment. Save the date and call us for an appointment. Phone number 620-234-5762

• Nov. 11 we will celebrate Veterans Day by having pictures of Stafford County Veterans scrolling on our television screen. Come join us to honor the veterans of our community.

Looking ahead to December, we would appreciate you thinking of Nora’s Library on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3. We have been able to accomplish the renovation and meet community needs, because of your great heart for our library. Thank You!

Next Board Meeting: Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.
