The City of Great Bend’s budget hearing will take place during the regular City Council meeting that starts at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at City Hall. The entire meeting will be livestreamed for the public to view on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/gbcitycouncil/.

The budget is funded at a mill levy of 44.391, which is the calculated Revenue Neutral Rate that was certified by the County Clerk. Therefore, no RNR hearing is needed. Approving the budget is on the agenda following the close of the public hearing.

Other items on the agenda Monday include a new Common Consumption Area ordinance; abatements, and adoption of the 2024 edition of the Standard Traffic Ordinance and the 2024 edition of the Uniform Public Offense Code Ordinance.

The council will consider a sub-lease agreement. The City leases ground to Kestrel, which sublets the ground and buildings to Med-Trans Corporation (Eagle Med). City consent is required for sub-letting.

Great Bend Airport Manager Martin Miller will report on proposed agreements with Garver for airport projects.

The council will also be asked to approve a contract setting the terms and conditions of City Administrator Logan Burns’ employment. Burns was named City Administrator as of Aug. 12 following the resignation of Brandon Anderson.

The council normally meets on the first and third Monday of the month. Due to the Labor Day holiday on Sept. 2, that meeting will instead take place on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
