Turkey Day is coming up. Sandy put her artistic talent to work to make us a new bulletin board. We encourage turkeys to get out of town, but we would like you to come to the library and see all that is going on.

We are still having Monday morning Preschool Story Hour from 10-11 a.m. This Monday, I will be going to the school for Kansas Reads to Preschoolers. Why all this interest in reading to our young children? Early literacy is so important,” said Nikki Hansen, resource sharing librarian for the State Library of Kansas. “Preschoolers, they may not be reading yet, but with having books in the home, having a parent or guardian reading to them, it increases their vocabulary, it increases their readiness for kindergarten. Having someone read to them just encourages a love of reading in themselves.” If a child loves to read, the world is an open book for them. “Read Every Day - Live a Better Life.” Reading to a preschooler creates a better future.

Art is also a learning experience and we encourage you to come to the library and see our exhibit of Dale Latta art. It will be here for your enjoyment until Thanksgiving.

Don’t forget that November is a “Giving Month” and we have an opportunity for you to give to the children of Stafford and also to give to Nora’s Place on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3.

We are giving you an opportunity for fun and art on Wednesday Dec. 4. Nancy Hildebrand is giving a workshop on making Gnomes. Cute, fun and easy gnomes will be created by your own handiwork! We scheduled the workshop for 5:30-7:30 p.m. so those of you that work out of the home have a chance to come.

• The Library is sponsoring our annual Month of Giving. Please bring to the library, articles for hygiene (soap, body wash, shampoo, deodorant, etc), boys & girls underwear and socks - elementary size, for our students at Stafford Schools. Let’s set them up for SUCCESS!

• Our Fall Book Challenge is in its second month. There is still time to participate for a fun prize.

• We have our exhibit of Dale Latta Ceramics for all to enjoy until Thanksgiving.

• Monday morning we are looking forward to Preschool Story Hour 10-11. We will also be reading to 3-year-old preschoolers in their classroom at 9.
