GBMS-Honor-Band2021
GBMS band students selected to participate in a regional honor band were Slade Cauley, trumpet; Angel Cardenas, clarinet; Madelynne Siefkes, trombone; Maddy Harrington, trumpet; Hannah Hopkins, baritone saxophone; and Sheridan Johnson, mallet percussion. They are shown here with director/clinician Larry Brownlee.

Six Great Bend Middle School band students were selected to participate in the Southwest Kansas Music Educators Middle Level Honor Band on Saturday, Nov. 6 in Dodge City.

The students had to record an audition consisting of a chromatic scale and a musical excerpt to earn a spot in the band. Band Director Don Regehr commended these students for their effort in working on the audition music and being selected into the group.

“The honor band consisted of approximately 80 students from the southwest area of the state,” Regehr said. “The students got to work with a great Kansas music educator, Larry Brownlee, director of bands at Sterling College. Mr. Brownlee is well known for his excellent band program at Sterling High School and now at Sterling College.”

Students involved were: Slade Cauley, trumpet; Angel Cardenas, clarinet; Madelynne Siefkes, trombone; Maddy Harrington, trumpet; Hannah Hopkins, Baritone Saxophone and Sheridan Johnson, mallet percussion.
