Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas has announced an initiative aimed at breaking down barriers to mental health support in southwest Kansas. For a limited time, free therapy sessions will be available in-person in Dodge City, and by tele-health for all other area residents, providing accessible and affordable mental health services. This initiative aims to prioritize mental well-being by ensuring that cost is not a hindrance to seeking therapy.
To access the sessions, southwest Kansas residents are encouraged to contact Amy Falcon, a therapists at Catholic Charities, by phone 620-227-1590, or email afalcon@CatholicCharitiesSWKS.org.
Therapists aim to make the process as seamless as possible, providing support and guidance along the way. Please note that there may be eligibility requirements and limited availability based on demand, Falcon said. “In Southwest Kansas, residents often face barriers when it comes to accessing mental health services. Limited resources, financial constraints, and the stigma surrounding mental health can make it challenging for individuals to seek the help they need. This initiative is designed to remove those barriers and increase access to much-needed therapy.”
Therapy offers a wealth of benefits that can greatly enhance mental health and overall wellbeing. By engaging in therapy, individuals can develop coping skills, improve emotional resilience, and navigate common mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. However, the financial burden of therapy can prevent some individuals from taking this important step towards their mental well-being.
This limited-time offer of free therapy sessions addresses financial barriers and provides southwest Kansas residents with an opportunity to prioritize their mental health without worry. “It is our belief that everyone deserves access to quality mental health support, and this initiative underscores that commitment,” Falcon said.
“We recognize the importance of community support in destigmatizing mental health and creating an environment where individuals feel comfortable seeking therapy,” said Falcon. “By offering free therapy sessions, we hope to encourage dialogue, shift perceptions, and bring mental health to the forefront as a valuable aspect of overall well-being.”
