New and expecting parents are invited to the fourth annual Barton County Community Baby Shower from 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, in Jack Kilby Square.

This is a free, fun and educational event, sponsors said. It is hosted by the Barton County Health Department, Kansas Children’s Service League - Healthy Families, and the Great Bend Fire/EMS Department.

Prenatal moms or any parent with a child 6 months old or younger can get a free Pack and Play portable playpen/crib by going through the GBFD’s Safe Sleep training that will be offered at the shower. There will be other door prizes, face painting and activities for kids, and “Daddy Relay Games.”

• Participants can learn about community resources.

• Immunizations will be available including Tdap.

• Pilot Club will offer Brain Minders puppet skits.

• Amy Mayhill will lead story time.

Those with car seats can drive to the Barton County Health Department parking lot at 1300 Kansas Ave. for a car seat inspection.

Vicki Richardson with Kansas Children’s Service League said families are invited to take part. Grandparents, aunts and uncles, and anyone who provides support to families with young children are encouraged to attend.
