A flock of Blackhawks
blackhawks at airport

The first of three five-ship flights of UH-60 Blackhawks traveling to the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin, Calif., for a two-month training exercise dropped in for a refueling pit stop at the Great Bend Municipal Airport Thursday morning. The pictured helicopters are based with the 1st Infantry Division – Big Red 1 – at Ft. Riley, and Great Bend was their first refueling stop on the three-day trip. More choppers are expected land at the airport Friday.
