Barton County 4-Hers receive scholarships
Barton County 4-H members were presented scholarships to further their education from the Barton County 4-H Holding Board, Chari Miller-Manry and the Carl and Evelyn Miller Memorial scholarship funds. The 4-H Holding Board Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation and all funds are used for the benefit of 4-H youth of Barton County. Matching funds for the Holding Board scholarships were provided by Chari Miller-Manry, in memory of Allan V. Miller who served as a volunteer 4-H leader for many years.

Local students earn distinction at Wichita State UniversityWICHITA — Wichita State University has announced the names of more than 2,750 students who were on the WSU dean’s honor roll for spring 2018.To be included on the dean’s honor roll, a student must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.WSU enrolls about 15,000 students and offers more than 50 undergraduate degree programs in more than 150 areas of study in six undergraduate colleges.Local students include: Ellinwood: Pedro Montoya; Great Bend: Natasha S. Inauguration set for FHSUs Dr. Tisa MasonHAYS — Events across four days will celebrate the inauguration of the 10th president of Fort Hays State University, Dr. Tisa A. Mason, who will be installed in a ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in the university’s Gross Memorial Coliseum. The public is invited. “Dr. Mason’s inauguration is a celebration of Fort Hays State University’s accomplishments as well as the anticipation of future opportunities for our students, faculty and staff,” said Janette Meis, chair of the inauguration committee and event planner for the Office of the President.July 29, 2018
