The next Barton County Commission meeting is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, in Suite 106 of the Courthouse. The meeting will be livestreamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting online at https://bit.ly/3Zq57Ps.
Barry McManaman, county engineer, will provide details about a supplemental agreement for a Kansas Department of Transportation project that will pay for an engineering study to determine the proper location of no-passing zones, followed by the installation of no-passing zone signs on blacktops in the southwest part of the county.
The original agreement was approved in April but failed to specify the maximum cost the state will pay. The action recommended for Tuesday will clarify the state will cover 100% of the costs for design, construction and inspection up to the maximum of $171,000.
