County commissioner will recap NIETC meeting

Barton County Commission Chairman Barb Esfeld will lead discussion on two meetings from earlier this month when the commission meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the courthouse.

The Commission meeting will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams at https://bit.ly/3MQyFht.

On Oct. 1, Barton, Pawnee and Russell counties held a special meeting at Barton Community College concerning the National Interest Electric Transmission Corridor. That will be the subject of the first agenda item. On Oct. 3-4, the Kansas Legislative Policy Group held its annual meeting in Liberal; Esfeld will provide an update.

New business on the agenda concerns the unexpired position open on the Employee Engagement Committee.

After the agenda meeting, the following appointments have been scheduled:

10:15 a.m. - Program update with Sara Arnberger, executive director, Great Bend Economic Development

10:30 a.m. - Voice logger maintenance contract renewal with Dena Popp, 911 director, and Casey Hubbard, office manager/investigator, County Attorney’s Office

10:45 a.m. - Program update with Marissa Woodmansee, Juvenile Services director.

11 a.m. - Regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, county administrator

Noon - Luncheon meeting with the Appraiser’s Office staff to discuss regular business.

1 p.m. - Mill levy calculation update with Bev Schmeidler, county clerk, and Jim Jordan, county treasurer.
