County cemetery rules for Veterans Day announced

The Barton County Commission issued announcements for Veterans Day programs and decorations for the Golden Belt and Hillcrest Memorial Parks and Cemeteries.

All decorations may be placed on graves seven days prior to (Nov. 4) and shall be removed seven days after (Nov. 18) Veterans Day. Employees will not attempt to find items after being so removed. Additionally, Barton County will not be responsible for the loss of or damage to any appropriate, ornamental items left on any lot, grave or other part of the memorial parks or cemeteries during the listed holiday periods. 

Resolution 2022-08, Regulations for Barton County Owned and Operated Memorial Parks and Cemeteries, is available upon request. 


Memorial ceremony

The Memorial Parks Advisory Committee has scheduled a memorial recognition ceremony at the Golden Belt Veterans Memorial at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9. The ceremony will be held at the Golden Belt Memorial Park, 59 NW 50 Road, Great Bend.


Holiday closings

Barton County Office Buildings will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. The Health Department, the Records Division of the Sheriff’s Office and the Landfill will also be closed that day. Emergency services will be in normal operation.
