County attorney to offer update to commission

The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19.

It will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes:

• A resolution authorizing participation in the Rural Opportunity Zone Student Loan Repayment Program for calendar year 2023.

•  The National Association Of Counties 2023 membership.

• The Kansas Association Of Counties 2023 membership.

• The Kansas Legislative Policy Group 2023 membership.

• The annual report from County Attorney Levi  Morris.

Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:

•  10 a.m.  – financial update with Matt Patzner, director of operations.

•  10:15 a.m. – equipment update with Dena Popp, 911 director. 

10:30 a.m. – asphalt mixture discussion with Darren Williams, county works director. 

•  10:45 a.m. – Program Update with Barry McManaman, county  engineer.

•  1 a.m. – the commission will open county counselor bids in  their chambers. 

•  1:30 p.m. – solar farm project with Acciona Energy and Judy Goreham, environmental manager.

•  2 p.m. – continuing discussion of the HVAC bids.

•  3 p.m. – regular business discussion with Matt Patzner, director of  operations.
