Hoisington USD 431 posted this warning Wednesday on its Facebook page after someone reportedly approached Hoisington High School students in a suspicious manner:

“FYI there was an individual who approached students at the HS this morning. If you see a stranger in a silver or tan Chevy pickup approaching students please report to local PD.”

Great Bend USD 428 Superintendent Khris Thexton sent a message to students, families and staff about suspicious activity in neighboring districts.

“A silver GMC pickup truck with temporary 60-day tags has been reported approaching high school-aged females, offering what appears to be fraudulent ‘flag football scholarships’ for college. While this vehicle has not been spotted in Great Bend, we wanted students, families, and staff at GBMS & GBHS to be aware.

“Local authorities are aware of the concern. If you see or experience anything similar, please contact them immediately by dialing 9-1-1.

“Your safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your attention to this matter.”

The USD 431 post included a blurry photo, to which one person commented, “Looks like the same truck that approached the Central Plains Volleyball girls bus at Casey’s last night (Oct. 1). The comment added the person was an “older male.”
