The Barton County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19.
It will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes: A public hearing on the Solid Waste Management Plan followed and a resolution adopting the plan; a resolution establishing a public records, documents and information request policy for Barton County; the purchase of four rotary mowers and a mowing tractor for the Road and Bridge Department; a Kansas Department of Health and Environment Injury Prevention mini-grant for a community baby shower to be held next summer; use of American Rescue Plan Act funds to help Fire District Number 1 purchase 800 MHz mobile radios, portable radios, and pagers; and a Woodriver Energy natural gas sales agreement to help even out the county’s gas bills in case of extreme cold weather.
Following the agenda meeting, the following appointments are scheduled:
• 10 a.m. or following the close of the Agenda Meeting – generator replacement at the Health Department, and equipment needs and repair for the Landfill with Phillip Hathcock, solid waste/facilities director.
• 10:30 a.m. – BJA Second Chance Act Reentry for Adults with Substance Use Disorder and the Drug-Free Communities Support Program Grant award from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with Grant And Compliance Manager Sue Cooper, Central Kansas Community Corrections Director Amy Boxberger; and Juvenile Services Director Marissa Woodmansee.
• 10:45 a.m. – Risk management and insurance request for proposal review with Emergency Risk Manager Amy Miller.
• 11:15 a.m. – Information Technology computer replacement project request for proposal review with Information Technology Director Dereck Hollingshead.
• 11:30 a.m. – Truck repair with County Works Director Darren Williams.
• 11:45 a.m. – Inspection service agreement with KDOT with County Engineer Barry McManaman.
• 1:15 p.m. – Two-hour executive session with Osenbaugh & Deardoff Consulting regarding the county administrator search.
• 3:30 p.m. – Regular business discussion with Interim County Administrator Barry McManama and County Clerk Donna Zimmerman. This will include a geology proposal for the county sandpit.
