The City of Great Bend announced Monday it would start burning the tree pile at the compost site that afternoon.

Staff were taking advantage of the current wind conditions with the potential to be burning Tuesday as well. Depending on the weather it could be extended further into the week. 

The burn area will be continuously monitored by city staff 24 hours a day.
